Parents like one confirmation number. Children do not care. They care whether the room still exists if someone spikes a fever on Thursday. A package is one checkout. It is not automatically one set of kind rules. Family Trip defaults to Travelocity; this page is when that default should stay a hotel-only search.
Glue when the calendar is actually locked
School breaks that will not move, a reunion, a prepaid activity that is the reason for the trip (and that you accepted as prepaid on purpose). Everyone is on the same flights. The hotel pin is the right town. You compared standalone versus package and the combined rules are still cancellable enough — or you knowingly prepaid. Then a Travelocity (or Expedia, or Orbitz) package is in-bounds. Same family of OTAs. Use the login you have.
Split when a child can veto the week
That is most weeks with kids under a certain age you already know. Keep the hotel cancellable. Buy the flight on rules you understand — sometimes that is still a package; sometimes it is the airline. Do not let a cheap total convert a refundable room into a brick. Park Stay’s cancellable-lodging logic applies in cities too, not only next to parks.
Split when names do not match. One adult on points. A grandparent driving. A teen on a different return. Packages are clumsy with mixed parties. Two checkouts are adult.
Split when you need a car seat, a different driver age, or a van. The counter is not the hotel. Park Car is the sister for the rental as a product. A hotel+car package that assigns a compact and a prayer is not a family plan. We will not specify a van rate that does not exist on this page.
Flights with children, without a fantasy
Nonstop if you can. Connections you would take anyway. No extra stop to win a package tile. Lap infants are an airline rule, not an OTA personality. We will not recite every US airline’s infant policy; they differ and they change. Check the carrier. Name matching on tickets is not optional. The OTA is not the TSA.
How we would click it
Constraints on paper: ages, beds, who flies, whether the week can move. Town. Travelocity hotel search via /go/travelocity/. If a package still makes sense, compare rules, not badges. If Expedia is already open, Trip Bundle. If the job is a first gateway pillow, Park Stay / Hotels.com may win even on a Travelocity lander — we will say that in the header-length voice: defaults are starting tools.
No family coupon. No “kids stay free” claim copied from a 2014 banner. If a hotel offers that, it will say so on the live listing. Believe them, not us.
Independent site. Not the merchant. Affiliate hops use rel="sponsored noopener".
